Hi, I’m Beatrice (Bee for short)!
I’m a Computer Science student at
Virginia Commonwealth University
designing and building intuitive,
accessible web and mobile
experiences.
I combine a foundation
in UI/UX, Interaction Design and
Front-End Development with technical
skills in JavaScript, HTML/CSS,
Python, Swift and Godot to build
intuitive, accessible digital products.

Design focuses

Design is useless if you are not
designing for the correct audience;
user research and design choices
make a huge difference in success
rate.

User research

Keeping users engaged and moving
when using a program guarantees a
sense of fulfillment after product use.

Interaction design

Making sure that users of a multitude
of backgrounds are able to use an
application accross modalities.

Context: I've been learning foreign languages for over seven years, and
the hardest part was never grammar — it was finding native speakers to
actually practice with. Existing language apps aren't always safe or
accessible for minors, which leaves students without a trustworthy place
to talk.

Solution: Eduetch is an institutional language learning website that
creates a safe environment for students to practice conversation.
Because it lives inside schools, every cross-school interaction happens
in monitored digital classrooms designed to protect privacy and
encourage positive communication.

Target audience: modern students rely heavily on digital platforms for
study, homework help, and language learning, yet they are the group
most exposed to unsafe learning apps. Multi-language learners in
particular struggle with traditional instruction, so the design directly
addresses those barriers with accessible, user-centered patterns that
feel safe and inviting.

Skills & Tools: UX Research, Information Architecture, Wireframing, Usability Testing, Interaction Design, Accessibility, Design Systems, Prototyping, Figma

Process: the project moved through planning, designing, drafting, and testing/tweaking. Research into the student-to-student learning journey shaped the information architecture, and low-fidelity wireframes established the four core surfaces — user profile, about us page, direct messages, and login/registration. Style guide: warm colors were chosen to stimulate the brain and promote sociable behavior, paired with a clear sans-serif type scale, defined input states, chat bubbles, and button variants so the interface stayed consistent across every screen. Testing and iteration: usability sessions surfaced clarity issues in messaging and on the landing page. The direct message view was rebuilt with real avatars, message previews, and timestamps for scannability, and the landing page moved from a flat yellow band to a calmer green section with copy that explains the platform's purpose instead of placeholder text. Outcome: a cohesive product concept built on research-based, K–12 curriculum-aligned language practice — one that connects classrooms and gives students a confident, safe space to communicate with peers from other schools. ClosetB is a character customizer game inspired by Picrew and other dress-up games that embody cute, creative fun. Players style a base model to fit their own aesthetic or simply to look stylish. All art, assets, and development are my own. I illustrated every clothing item, hairstyle, and accessory, then built the layering and swapping system in Godot so each combination composites cleanly on the base model. Playing is intentionally simple: buttons along the right side of the screen swap each attribute, and color-changing controls recolor most layers (eyebrows, eyes, and extras stay fixed). The result is a huge combination space that stays approachable within seconds of loading. The game is published on itch.io as an HTML5 build, playable in the browser on desktop and mobile with mouse or touch input. It's tagged Character Customization, Dress Up, and No AI was used in any of the artwork. Next up: adding music and expanding the wardrobe with more options. Link to game
